Patagonia - Marsupial Fleece

It's the classic Patagonia fleece sweater. Its warm, fuzzy 300 weight Polartec fleece is comfortable to wear and very warm without being overly hot. The long chest zipper allows you to ventilate on warmer days. The marsupial style pass-through front pocket is where your hands will live on chillier days. As always, folks buy Patagonia because the fit is amazingly good, with excellent freedom of movement and because this classic will stay looking good for years to come.

Black Diamond Apollo Lantern

The Apollo lantern is coming in for a landing. It can stand on its own three legs or hang from the center of the tent. Set the mood with its dimming capability. It might get lonely if you forget to pick up its friend NRG. The NRG is a rechargeable battery kit that is compatible with the Apollo lantern.

Steripen Journey LCD

Let's face it: We all hate to wait. The Journey is everything I am looking for in a water purifier: LCD readout makes it easy to determine battery life and when water is purified
UV sterilization process takes 90 seconds, instead of 30 minutes - 4 hours
No pumping, and (almost) no waiting

Jacks R Better Ultra-Light No Sniveler Quilt

For several years, Becky and I have used a lightweight backpacking quilt in place of our traditional sleeping bags. Quilts are a strong trend in the world of ultra light weight backpacking - and for good reason! A well made backpacking quilt is lighter and more comfortable than a normal sleeping bag. By eliminating all the insulation and fabric that is between you and the ground, weight is reduced. The quilt also gives you a more natural, comfortable sleeping experience. We used ours for over 4 months on our Appalachian Trail thru hike and will never go back.

We are proud to announce the addition of the Jacks-R-Better down quilts to Pack & Paddle. We are stocking the 3 season "No Sniveler" quilt. This quilt uses 800 fill power goose down and has a draw string at each end (one to form the footbox and one to sculpt the shoulder area). In true Ultra Light style, Jacks-R-Better makes the quilt multi-use by adding a head hole so that you can wear the quilt around camp as a down parka.

John - Big Agnes Seedhouse SL 2 tent

Ya'll know that I love using a tarp, but we're going with a tent for our thru hike of the Colorado Trail. The Seedhouse SL has plenty of room for Becky and I and has a large vestibule placed in front of the tent. I like the Vestibule in front so that I can cook while I lazily lay in my bag. The best part? The weight is a feather light 2lbs, 14 ounces. Just about perfect!

Petzl E+Lite

Speaking of lightweight stuff, you gotta check out the new light from Petzl. This featherlight headlamp weighs only 27 grams, runs on 2 lithium batteries (included), is waterproof to 1 meter and offers both normal and red light options. Why bring spare batteries when the E+Lite weighs less than a spare set of AA's?

Ether Thermo Sleeping Pad by Pacific Outdoor

I think that shopping for a good lightweight pad is one of the most aggravating things an outdoors person can do. There always seems to be too many trade offs: You can get them light, but they are either thin or short in length. You can get them nice and comfy, but they weigh a ton (not literally!). I have found one of the few places where you can "Beat the System" is with the Ether series Thermo pad from Pacific Outdoor. This pad is "semi self-inflating" meaining that you have to blow a few breaths of air into it to fully inflate it. The benefit is that you get a 72 inch pad that's a full 2(!!!) inches thick. You are literally sleeping on a cloud of air. These things are comfortable! The best part? They weight a feathery 21 ounces.

The canopy is built with highly water-resistant and breathable Epic fabric, and the floor is double silicone coated nylon ripstop. For keeping track of the little things, the HiLght has two interior net pockets.

Jetboil

Jetboil PCS – the original Jetboil – has sparked a revolution in outdoor cooking. Boiling two cups in two minutes at 75-80% efficiency, the PCS is twice as fast and uses half as much fuel as conventional stoves. The PCS boils up to 50 cups (12 Liters) of water from only one Jetpower isobutane/propane micro-canister. Such outstanding performance results from the patent-pending FluxRing™ heat exchanger, which captures and focuses the burner’s heat.
John Williams: The JetBoil has won Backpacker Magazine Editors Choice Award, Outside Magazine Gear of the Year Award, Time Magazine Coolest Inventions Award and more! Drop by today to check it out!
