Dry Case

The DryCASE is a flexible, crystal clear waterproof bag that allows complete use of your phone or camera while keeping it dry and clean. Simply pump out all the air with the easy to use hand pump and the bag will vacuum seal around the contents and become completely waterproof. The air tight seal guarantees that the contents of the bag will stay dry even when submerged underwater. Every DryCASE comes with the extreme activity arm band for water sports, and is crystal clear so pictures can be taken through it while using the other side.

"DryCASE is awesome! I use it to stay connected with my iPhone and to take underwater pictures with my digital camera. I live at the beach and DryCASE gives me the freedom to get calls, messages and even listen to music. Each day I get up and paddle around the sound, and don't miss an important email or phone call. If it wasn't for DryCASE I wouldn't be able to enjoy my favorite water sports and still stay connected. I don't know what I would do without it!" -Corey from Wrightsville Beach, NC.

Bronwen Jewelry

Bronwen Lodato has been making jewelry for as long as she can remember. Her inspiration stems from a life lived in motion. Whether she is stand-up paddling in Phuket, sailing the Tuamotus in search of pearls, or slacklining in the high Sierra, Bronwen is gathering images for jewelry. The colors, textures, and memories of her adventures are reflected in the lively pieces of her collections. Her jewelry is equally lovely worn on a yoga mat, a beach in the South Pacific, or a bistro in Cinque Terre.

Bronwen met Michael Rubovits in the mountains of Oregon while they were instructing wilderness expeditions for Outward Bound. Growing up in the rugged beauty of Colorado and Arizona with educator parents, Michael has always led a life filled with outdoor adventure and cultural travel. Bronwen and Michael teamed up and have spent the last decade working and playing in the wilderness, exploring foreign countries, and successfully navigating the ebb and flow of marriage. After Michael completed his MBA in Sustainable Business, he became the Financial Director for Keep Tahoe Blue. Michael and Bronwen have combined her passion for designing jewelry with his interest in business and so the adventure continues (with a wee little one on the way in January 2011)!

Costa Del Mar Sunglasses

What attracted us to carrying Costa Del Mar was their complete focus on sunglasses for use around the water. Because of the popularity of kayaking and especially Kayak Fishing, we wanted to offer a fishing sunglass that was second to none. After trying a pair out in the Biloxi Marsh last weekend, I think we made the right pick.
My initial impressions of my new Costa 580's were two: First off, they were incredibly light for a glass lens sunglass. I like glass lenses for their durability and optical clarity. However, glass lenses usually end up so heavy that they are not great for active sports. The 580's felt as light as non-glass lenses. The second impression what the amazing contrast the 580's gave me on the water. Everything looked cleaner, clearer and crisper.
As I worked back deep into the marsh I started noticing redfish everywhere. I think I had gotten used to not seeing them with my old glasses - so it took a little while to realize how easy they were to spot with my new Costa's. When I got back to a shallow pond, I saw a dozen or so fish tailing with their backs out of the water. As the tide rose, the fish were below the surface so I had to depend on my sunglasses to let me see through the glare of the water's surface. The 580's were nothing short of incredible for sight fishing. I would go as far as to say that it was a whole new game compared to my old polarized glasses.
If you are looking for the best performance on the water or off, come by and take a look at our huge selection of Costa Del Mar sunglasses.

Toms Shoes - Do Something Good Today!

In 2006, American traveler Blake Mycoskie befriended children in Argentina and found they had no shoes to protect their feet. Wanting to help, he created TOMS Shoes, a company that would match every pair of shoes purchased with a pair of new shoes given to a child in need. One for One. Blake returned to Argentina with a group of family, friends and staff later that year with 10,000 pairs of shoes made possible by TOMS customers.

Why Shoes?

Many children in developing countries grow up barefoot. Whether at play, doing chores or going to school, these children are at risk:

•A leading cause of disease in developing countries is soil-transmitted diseases, which can penetrate the skin through bare feet. Wearing shoes can help prevent these diseases, and the long-term physical and cognitive harm they cause.

•Wearing shoes also prevents feet from getting cuts and sores. Not only are these injuries painful, they also are dangerous when wounds become infected.

•Many times children can't attend school barefoot because shoes are a required part of their uniform. If they don't have shoes, they don't go to school. If they don't receive an education, they don't have the opportunity to realize their potential.

Stop by to see these unique shoes for both men and women!

Cablz Eyewear Retainer

Why wear other eyewear retainers that hang on your neck, soak up sweat, get dirty, stink and fray? Cablz® are unique in the way they do not lay on your neck, distract you or irritate your skin. Whether you are fishing, boating, golfing, hunting, running, biking, hiking, rock climbing, snow skiing, snowmobiling or just enjoying the great outdoors Cablz are the ideal eyewear retention system that will keep your eyewear secure and stylish.

Not to be confused with Croakies, Chums or other eyewear straps or eyeglass cords on the market today, Cablz are made of surgical grade steel cable, industrial strength rubber and other proprietary components. Cablz are the next generation in eyewear retention and are designed to handle hard work and active lifestyles.

How Cablz Were Invented
Necessity sparked invention for Ron Williams, an avid outdoorsman and inventor of Cablz® Eyewear. Williams, who has sold medical devices for more than two decades, was in a hurry when leaving a hospital parking deck one morning. When he turned his head to check for oncoming traffic, his fabric eyewear retainer snagged, knocking his sunglasses across his face. Frustrated, Ron snatched off his sunglasses, retainer and all, and tossed them to the floorboard. They landed in a duffle bag next to a surgical steel cable used to repair complex fractures, then Ron got a bright idea.

When he got home, Ron took the cable and some electrical tape and fashioned the first Cablz® prototype. He took some ribbing when he wore them to the office, but co-workers liked the idea. When he replaced the electrical tape with rubber, friends and colleagues began requesting Cablz® for themselves.

Hydroflask

Double Wall Vacuum Insulated

Keeps hot liquids hot and cold liquids cold. How do they know the difference?

The key to many of the virtues of Hydro Flask's zen lies in our patent pending, stainless steel, double wall insulated construction. By leaving a vacuum void between the interior and exterior walls of the bottles, liquids within are insulated from the elements without - hot or cold. Simple and extremely effective.

Hot liquids stay steamy for 12 hours or more -even buried deep in glacial snow- while cold liquids stay refreshingly cool for at least 24 hours, long after the trail turns hot and dusty.

Come by P&P soon to see why the Hydroflask has become a staff favorite!

Spring Kickoff Weekend Was Amazing!

Perfect early spring weather arrived just on time for the outdoor community of Lafayette to celebrate the arrival of warmer weather. On hand for the weekend were 300 folks from Lafayette, Lake Charles, Alexandria, Shreveport, Baton Rouge and even as far away as Tennessee! We paddled, looked at new gear, caught up with old friends and generally had a great time. Suffice it to say that we can't wait for next year! Here's a few pictures of some of the events:

Kickoff Breakfast Paddle
A wonderful paddle at Lake Martin saw the Lafayette Paddle Club hosting 30 paddlers who turned out to enjoy sunshine, beautiful scenery and great beignets!

Adventure Trade Show
During the day Saturday, lots of folks showed up to see the latest gear from MSR, Hobie, Wilderness Systems, Yakima, Hurricane Kayaks, Yak Gear, SPOT, and Native Watercraft. We all enjoyed meeting Jerald Horst (author of Troutmasters and other books) as well as Lucy the Goat from Louisiana Wild products. It was a great time to meet representatives of the Lafayette Paddle Club and the Lafayette kayak Fishing Club.

Reel Paddling Film Festival
We hosted a capacity crowd for the first tour stop in Louisiana for the Reel Paddling Film Festival Saturday night. We all laughed through "Paddle to Seattle", thrilled to the whitewater in "Lucky 13", were inspired by "The Missouri Stream Team Story" and loved "Finding Farley". The films were great and the crowd was great. Overall, a wonderful celebration of paddling as a sport.

Kayak and Canoe Demo Day
The Demo Day on Sunday set records for participation with over 250 people showing up to try out the canoes and kayaks we had on hand. As you can imagine, it was hectic, but exciting.

Our thanks go out to all of you who participated in this very special weekend. We enjoyed hosting you and look forward to the Spring Kickoff Weekend being even bigger and better next year!
